United against corruption for development, peace and security Corruption is a serious crime that can undermine social and economic development in all societies. No country, region or community is immune.

This year UNODC and UNDP have developed a joint global campaign, focusing on how corruption affects education, health, justice, democracy, prosperity and development.

The UN General Assembly declared 9th December as International Anti-Corruption Day, to be observed annually. The objective of this Day is to create awareness about the negative effects of corruption and the need to prevent and fight it. 

The document will be discussed for endorsement during the World Council of United Cities and Local Governments, to be held in Hangzhou from 7th to 9th December 2017.
